In July 2013, all members represented under the PA group were awarded a scheduled salary increase with their new collective agreement. At the time, PSAC wrote to Treasury Board to remind them that this salary increase would mean union dues would also increase based on the new (first-step) salaries.
However, the increase in union dues for PA members did not take place for the months of July, August, September, and October. As a result, members of the PA group have been remitting their union dues based on previous salary-levels.
After considering several options, the union has determined that the optimal way to proceed was to recover the difference in union dues over a two month period (November 2013 and December 2013). Consequently, all PA members will see "PSAC arrears" on their paystubs in November and December.
In January 2014, union dues will return to the expected levels in keeping with the first step salaries as of July 2013.
